Evaluation for Dental Implants

If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the choice for you, we ask that you undergo a radiographic and clinical examination.   At this consultation, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed.  For more involved cases, a CBCT (Cone Beam Cat Scan) will be prescribed by Dr. Carpenter. 

It is important for you to know Dr. Carpenter is a Fellow AND a Diplomate in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).  He performs all surgical implant procedures and the restoration of the teeth himself.  By being both the surgeon and the restorative dentist, confusion is eliminated for the patient.  Patients find it very reassuring to know who exactly is responsible for all aspects of their dental treatment.  Additionally, you will have the convenience of having all your work performed at one location, our state of the art dental facility, supported by a highly trained and caring staff.

Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implants are metal anchors, which act as tooth root substitutes. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. Small posts are then attached to the implant, which protrude through the gums. These posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.

Dr. Carpenter will uncover the implant and attach a small healing collar; then he will start making your new teeth. You should be able to wear temporary crowns or dentures and eat a soft diet during this time. At the same time, Dr. Carpenter designs the final bridgework or denture, which will ultimately improve both function and aesthetics.  The entire procedure takes 4 to 6 months and most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.
